The Metaverse has attracted tremendous attention globally, being seen as a great promise of technological innovation, which has led to growing interest from major technology companies in the Metaverse spaces and services. The COVID-19 global pandemic was a huge test case for people being able to connect digitally through “Zoom,” “Teams,” and others, driving the gradual acceleration toward the Metaverse. The coronavirus pandemic also made the world realise that the commercial opportunities of digital media can and should be expanded. That said, it is good to understand that the Metaverse is no longer science fiction, but a new level of reality that combines the real and virtual universes. Companies must invest in technology and acquire new skills that enable them to offer more engaging products, services and/or experiences to compete in tomorrow’s markets. The best prepared companies can turn the current crisis into a great opportunity.
