The complexity of technical data from various fields of science usually makes them incomprehensible for those who aren’t used to the subject matter.
The information, many times distorted by third parties, discredits the content and promotes the rise in so-called fake news. With that in mind and resorting to means often used in the design, such as the Diamond Model, Centered Human, and Design Thinking Process, among others, the purpose of this project is to clarify the message in the process of communication in the scientific areas.
Furthermore, this is an opportunity to bring science closer to society through content adapted to each individual’s sociocultural background. The triangulation approach, also present at work, resulted in the combination of the methods used in three different fields – data science, visual communication, and design – in only one product.
During the ideation processes, framework, and prototyping, scientific elements from the Brazilian National Institute for Space Research (INPE) about the evolution of the Brazilian controlled burns were collected and turned into a 3D animated video. Concluding, the applied project has the purpose of promoting the understanding of the message of the communication process arising from scientific research projects.
Additionally, the proposal intends to help researchers in promoting the outcomes of their analyses and simulations and help the general public understand that information.
